Roberto de la Torre

Multidisciplinary visual artist (México, 1967) living and working in Mexico City, he studied Visual Arts at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda”, where he currently teaches. He has taken part in several art festivals both nationally and internationally. His work has been showcased in seventeen countries all around the world, in the regions of North and South America, Europe and Asia. Throughout his career he has been granted with several recognitions, funds and scholarships as well as artist residencies abroad. He has been published inside and outside the country in several media. His book “De la mordida al camello, Roberto de la Torre (selección de obra 2000-2005)”, (“From the bite to the camel” -selection of Roberto de la Torre’s works from 2000-2005) was published by Editorial Diamantina, in Mexico, in 2009. De la Torre worked as a tutor for the Young Art Creators Grant Program of the National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA, 2010-2011). He also belongs to the National System of Art Creators (FONCA) in the Alternative Media division (2013-2015). He is currently part of the Artist Pension Trust (APT). And he co-founded the experimental art group “19 concreto” (1990-1995).
